Colin is the latest talent to emerge from Sigma Films (Perfect Sense, Red Road, Hallam Foe). Since completing festival hit I Love Luci Colin has attracted international attention. As well as winning the BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Short he was also made one of Screen International’s Stars of Tomorrow. He is now working with world-class writing talent on two feature films: Swung, written by Ewan Morrison, is preparing to shoot and Atlantic Bridge, written by Andrea Gibb was developed by Creative Scotland and BFI.
After cutting his teeth in the corporate world Colin made short comedies for Channel 4 Ideas Factory and 4Talent. At that time he was also making his first dramatic films working with underprivileged children for charity outfit Starfish. He then worked as assistant to David Mackenzie and has since directed 2nd unit on four of Mackenzie’s films.
He was nominated for a BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award ’09 for a music video and his short won a host of international awards including the Prix des Mediatheques at Clermont-Ferrand, Best Fiction at Interfilm Berlin and the Audience Award at Vila do Conde Curtas. I Love Luci was been invited to over 65 festivals including Palm Springs, Sao Paulo and AFI Fest.
As well as directing Colin is currently producing the directorial debut of Greg Hemphill (Still Game) starring Frankie Boyle and is a trustee of JUMPCUT.
Swung will shoot in the autumn of 2013.
